Why mesquite is the centerpiece

Mesquite is a distinctive Texas hardwood, and the show gives visitors a chance to see what skilled makers do with its grain and shape. Expect turned bowls, furniture, sculpture and smaller objects alongside a broader selection of wood, metal, leather, glass, fiber and other art. Looking closely at a finished surface or a joint reveals how much thought lies behind a useful object.

Speak with artisans about the origin of their material and the techniques they use. If you are considering a wood piece for home, ask about finish, care and how it will respond to your indoor climate. The organizer also presents artists in media beyond mesquite, so make time for those booths rather than treating the show as a single-material market.

A visit to Marktplatz

The fair sits in a downtown park with open-air pavilions near Main Street shopping and restaurants. It is a family- and pet-friendly setting according to the organizer. A first loop of the booths can help you compare styles and sizes before returning to favorites. Friday begins at noon, while Sunday ends at 3 p.m., so plan the amount of time you want with the artists.
