Start with the artists
The juried lineup includes artists from the United States and Mexico working across many media. Walk the full stretch of Girard Avenue before deciding where to spend more time. Look at how light changes the appearance of glass and sculpture, and ask painters or photographers about the processes behind the finished image. The organizer names Doug Merskin as its 2026 featured artist.
The event’s scale rewards planning, but leave room for surprise. A short list of artists from the official directory can guide your first pass; after that, follow the work that catches your eye. Ask makers about care, shipping and scale if you are considering a purchase. The festival’s art center offers hands-on activities for families.
Wine garden and arrival
The outdoor art festival is free. The Wine & Beer Garden is a separate ticketed area for adults 21 and older, scheduled noon–6 p.m.; you can enjoy the artist booths without purchasing that ticket. The visitor page notes street parking and paid lots around La Jolla and suggests rideshare as an option. Arriving early should leave more time to browse before the afternoon becomes busy.
